During the years 2003 – 2004 CSV disseminated sanitation-related technologies in all of the 33 districts of Maharashtra in a UNICEF-sponsored programme.
During the years 1992 to 1997 CSV constructed more than 25,000 toilets and 5,000 biogas plants in the state of Maharashtra.
CSV made 25 villages of Wardha district Open Defecation Free (ODF) villages: Khadka, Madka, Tuljapur, Takli (Kite), Karanji (Bhoge), Kharangana (Gode), Kutki, Talodi, Chanki, Kopra, Wahitpur, Jaipur, Pimpalgaon (Lute), Shivnagar, Selu, Ghorad, Kelzar, Amgaon, Derda, Wela.
Under the “Nirmal Gram Puraskar program”CSV has evaluated the work of 2073 villages’ total sanitation in selected 55 districts of the states of Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. The work was done for “The Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
CSV constructed more than 25000 toilets and 5000 biogas plants with the cooperation and financial assistance of the corporate sector, government departments, ministries, and UNICEF.
CSV made 25 villages Open Defecation Free (ODF). The names of some villages from Wardha district are – Khadka Madka, Tuljapur, Takli (Kite), Karanji Bhoge, Kharangana Gode, Kutki, Talodi, Chanki Kopra, Wahitpur, Jaipur, Pimpalgaon (Lute), Shivnagar, Selu, Ghorad, Kelzar, Amgaon, Derda.
Since the inception of WASH – Water, Sanitation & Health scheme of Govt. of India in the year 1984 CSV played a major role in this scheme. Under the WASH scheme the CSV worked with leading organizations like UNICEF, Mumbai; NIRD, Hyderabad; Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Mumbai.
In 1996 CSV with assistance from UNICEF established the first Sanitation Park showcasing different life size models of toilets and sanitation structure. The sanitation park was later replicated in other states through Gpvernment of Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh
For wider replication of appropriate sanitation models, which are effective in the rural sector, CSV constructed 16 Sanitation Parks at the following nodal places:
